Lecture Abstract

"Impact Factor" - Scientific Impact Factor

"Impact Factor" is a measure of the importance of refereed scientific journals within their field of research specialization. The Impact Factor reflects the extent to which new research cites research previously published in that journal. A journal with a high Impact Factor is considered more important and relied upon in the specialized scientific community than others.

The "Impact Factor" is the most objective standard for evaluating scientific activity, and it is the most valid, famous, and widely applied standard globally, for which established global information databases have been available for more than half a century. This has also led some nations to create their own citation index, such as China, India, Korea, etc.

For various reasons, there is no global interest in calculating impact factors for Arab journals, and there are no accurate and systematic indicators of the quality of Arab scientific activity. Hence came the interest in providing an "Arab Impact Factor", which is a factor specific to Arab journals and no others.

The Natural Sciences Publishing (NSP) foundation, under the auspices of the Association of Arab Universities, and in cooperation with some of the most prominent reputable scientific and research institutions in the Arab world and abroad, undertakes the preparation of the Arab Impact Factor, as a service to the Arab scientific community, its institutions, and researchers.
